I bought this specifically for a long car ride with my 5-year-old and it worked like magic. Zero mess in the back seat, no marker stains on the upholstery, and she loved watching the animals appear. The pages dry pretty fast so she could start over by the time we hit the next rest stop.
My son is 6 and usually has a hard time sitting still, but he really gets focused trying to spot all the hidden items. It’s wonderful because it just uses water, so I don't have to watch him like a hawk to make sure he doesn't color on the walls.
The book itself is really cute and my 4-year-old daughter enjoys finding the animals. However, she tends to press down really hard and flood the page with water. The thick pages hold up okay, but the edges have started to warp and curl a little bit after a week of heavy use. Still a great mess-free option, just tell your kids not to over-soak it.
We keep this in the diaper bag for when we go out to eat. It keeps both my 4 and 7-year-old entertained while we wait for food. The colors come out really vibrant and it’s cool that things only reveal color if they're actually part of the search game.
So much better than standard coloring books that you throw away after one use. Once it dries, it looks brand new again. My nephew has played with this animal one multiple times this week.
The spiral binding is nice and sturdy, and the pages are thick enough that they don't tear when wet. The water pen is easy for small hands to fill and use. Excellent birthday gift for a 5 year old.
My kids love the search and find aspect, and it really does keep them quiet during church. My only complaint is that it only includes one water pen. With two kids who want to use it at the same time, a second pen would have been great. We had to buy a separate water pen set so they could share the book.
As a mom of three, I am terrified of markers. This book is a total blessing. Just tap water and you're good to go. The search and find elements are challenging enough to keep my 6-year-old engaged without getting frustrated.
I sent this to my granddaughter for her 5th birthday and my daughter-in-law thanked me endlessly. She loves searching for the hidden animals and the fact that it's reusable means it lasts forever.
Took this on an airplane ride and it was perfect. Lightweight, fits easily in a backpack, and no loose parts to lose under the seats except the pen cap. Highly recommend for traveling families.
My kids call it the magic book. They love watching the hidden objects change from white to full color just by brushing water over them. It's an awesome learning tool for fine motor skills.
The animal pictures are very cute and my kids love playing with it. My only issue is that if they put too much water on it, it takes closer to 15 or 20 minutes to completely dry and fade back to white, which tests the patience of a 4-year-old. It works well if they use a light hand, though.
I love that this builds observation and problem-solving skills while feeling like a fun game. My 7-year-old son has been doing a few pages every morning. Very happy with this purchase.
I can finally get chores done around the house while my kid plays safely. He loves filling the water pen himself and searching out the animals. It boosted his confidence quite a bit.
Bought this as a gift for a friend's 6-year-old daughter and her mom text me the next day saying she wouldn't put it down. Great quality product for a great price.
Love everything about this book. The animal theme is great, the pages are thick, and the water pen doesn't leak. Will definitely buy more themes from this brand.
Stuck inside all day yesterday and this saved my sanity. Kept my 4 and 6 year olds completely occupied together. They loved racing to see who could spot the hidden items first.
Super fun and interactive. It's safe, non-toxic, and truly leaves zero mess. Even if they get water on themselves or the rug, it’s just plain water!
Trying to cut back on screen time this summer and this book has been a massive help. It holds my 5-year-old's focus just as well as a cartoon, but it's actually educational.
It's neat how the colors are so bright when wet but disappear completely when dry. The hidden object hunt is cleverly laid out so it doesn't get old too quickly.
